National Doughnut Day 2010

Krispy Kreme Doughnut Day 2010

Today is the first Friday in June, which means that it is time again to celebrate one of the most magical events of the year, National Doughnut Day. On this day we give thanks for all the joy and happiness that doughnuts have brought into our lives. It is a time to recollect on all the events that have been enhanced by the presence of those wonderful fried rings of dough.

This year National Doughnut Day is particularly poignant for me because I am back in the land of a million doughnut stores: Southern California. Here it seems that there are doughnut stores on every corner, and happily almost none of them are Dunkin’ Donuts. In Illinois there are quite a few doughnut stores, but 90 percent or more of them are Dunkin’. Upon our arrival in California, we stopped at one of the first doughnut stores that we saw, and were amazed to find that the doughnuts here are even better than we remembered. Hooray for good doughnuts!

Celebrate the day by getting yourself a free doughnut from Krispy Kreme, or one of the many other stores that are giving away free doughnuts today.

National Doughnut Day 2009

Happy National Doughnut Day 2009! The first Friday in June each year has been declared National Doughnut Day, and Krispy Kreme is celebrating the day by giving away free doughnuts!

National Doughnut Day

A good friend tipped me off to the fact that today is National Doughnut Day. I have to admit that I didn’t know anything about it, but that is probably because none of the doughnut stores near me are giving away free doughnuts. Cheapskates. Anyway, the history of this important day can be found on the wikipedia page that I linked to, if you are interested. Happy National Doughnut Day!

A Three-way Doughnut Duke-it-Out

(A quick note: Doughnuts are good, and any attempt to quantify their goodness is doomed to failure. This being true, I don’t have particularly high hopes for this post, but I’m not going to let that stop me.)

As a self-proclaimed connoisseur of doughnuts, I have always expected Continue reading ‘A Three-way Doughnut Duke-it-Out’

The Doughnut War

LEGACY POST: Scott’s Take

There was horrible thing that happened yesterday. A woman bit into an “oh so delicious” Krispy Kreme donut only to be greeted with shards of glass that cut up her mouth. NOT COOL. Whoever is trying to give Krispy Kreme a bad name is going to have to face my wrath, and the wrath of all the others who love KK donuts, if they get caught. It isn’t going to be pretty. Pat thinks that it was the Dunkin Donuts people. I suspect Winchell’s. They both realize their inferiority. If neither comes forward to confess to this atrocity I guess we’ll just have to get rid of both of them.

This is just dumb. How can this stuff be music? Its so… nothing. It makes me wonder why we even call it music. I don’t even see how it can be considered enjoyable… its just noise, or the lack thereof. All I know is that I think its dumb. (So there!)
