Zana is talking some

So, Zana woke up screaming this morning at 5:30am. She always wakes up mad, it doesn’t matter if it’s 2am and she just wants a drink of water, or it’s 8am and she slept in and now wants to get up, she just yells and yells. So this morning at 5:30, I got her a sippy cup and dropped it in her crib. She kept yelling and yelling. Usually she gets her cup drinks two drinks and goes back to sleep.

I got up 10 minutes later to see what the matter was. She was standing up in her crib yelling, and as I walked in she pointed to her sippy cup on the other side of the crib…as if she couldn’t get it herself. I obliged, because I wanted to go back to sleep, but she waved her hand frantically back and forth as they do to indicate “no,” then reaches for me to pick her up and yells, “Duuh,” which means “done.”

I went back to bed and told Scott that Zana had just demanded that she was done sleeping. We talked about how she’s crazy and then decided we’d better get up and get her.

These girls know like a total of 7 words, and she has the nerve to use them to tell me she’s “done” sleeping at 5:30am…sheesh.

In contrast, Andrew at this age would just cry nicely and stop crying when you picked him up. The when you thought he might be drifting back off to sleep would silently raise his arm and point out the door, and then continue pointing down the hall and into the living room, until you were far enough from his bed. So polite, yet still so adamant about not sleeping in.

Funny Andrew Stuff

My favorite part of other people’s blogs is always the funny things their kids say. Up till now I haven’t had anything to write about our kids, because all the funny stuff required too much translation from Andrew Language to English, and I am the only certified translator. Lately though, Andrew says the funniest things.

One day during lunch, I had said Andrew could have some chips if he ate some real food and told him to eat all the apple I gave him. He sat in his high chair eating and watching a movie, until a whole 2 hours later Andrew calls to me in the kitchen,”Oh, mommy. I finish my appult. Need some chips now.”

He also is confused between some signals his body send him.
Andrew (in a small voice in high chair, after watching a movie): Mommy, I’m (mumble mumble)
Mommy: You’re what? Are you all done?
A: No, getting cold.
M: Oh, do you need a sweatshirt?
A: Huh uh, need to pee outside!

Andrew has become a super polite guy. He always is appreciative of the work we do for him. After Scott finished weedwacking the back yard yesterday…
Andrew: Daddy, you done cutting the dass?
Daddy: Huh? Oh, yeah buddy.
A (exclaims): Oh, Good job Daddy!
(Mommy gets this a lot after finishing cleaning the kitchen or doing the dishes or whatever else. He also exclaims, “Oh, tank choo mommy,” when I give him something that he wanted.)

As Scott and I were cooking dinner the other night, we look over to Elira sitting in her high chair to see Andrew holding her arms in a crossed position. She didn’t mind, but Scott asked, “What are you doing Andrew?” To which he replied very matter of factly, “I putting Ellie in time out for throwing her bagel on the floor.” At this point Ellie thought, “Oh, that’s what’s going on? I’m mad now.” We had a hard time not laughing in front of Andrew, but I kept giggling about it for hours.

No, I don’t have a cold, and I haven’t been crying.

I just keep sneezing.

While playing at a friend’s house the other day, Andrew learned about spray bottles. He learned how to pretend to clean things, squirt it in people’s faces (the girls didn’t like that part), and to drink out of it.

Then the next night, he snuck out of bed. He sometimes does this, but we almost always hear him and just put him back in. This time I didn’t hear him until 30 minutes later. He had gotten one of my body sprays and sprayed it a bunch in our bedroom, and into his mouth (he said that it tasted yucky).

At first I just had to stifle a laugh and tell him not to, and I sent him back to bed. Later, I realized the larger problem.

After Scott and I went to bed, I began to feel a ton of pressure in my sinuses. After about an hour I couldn’t stand it, so I slept downstairs on the couch. It turns out that I must be allergic to this particular body spray, because also whenever I wear it I have to hold my breath while the mist of it is still in the air or else it makes me cough a little and tickles my throat. Now I’ve been having allergy problems since then.

It was really cute to see him trying to play new games at home, but I doubt he’s liked my grouchy, sneezy-ness since then.
