The Engineering-Everyone Else Divide

The University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, is an electrical and computer engineer’s dream school. The Electrical and Computer Engineering program at U of I boasts a student population of almost 2,000, with over 100 faculty members, and almost 20,000 living alumni. It holds the largest library of engineering materials in the Continue reading ‘The Engineering-Everyone Else Divide’

The Evolution of CrispyCromar.com

Way back in the year 2001, when I was 17 years old, I put together my first website. I think I was compelled by a desire to “have a place of my own” on the internets. At times it was exciting to learn the ins and outs of Microsoft Frontpage, and at others I wanted to scream. Eventually I got my fancy new website uploaded Continue reading ‘The Evolution of CrispyCromar.com’

LEGACY POST: Game Review by Scott

Elasto Mania

Have you ever played a game and though, “this has got to be the crappiest game ever created,” and then continued to play it for hours on end? Well, in case you haven’t, I present to you “ELASTO MANIA.” I downloaded this game by accident and the next thing I knew I had wasted 3 hours playing it. My initial impression was that this was the stupidest thing I had ever seen, but then I started to got into it. It seems a little weird at first because the physics on the motorcycle a so strange, but it starts to grow on you.

It is a motorcycle game with a cult following: check out www.moposite.com. For some more screen shots check out this page. You must download and play this game. It is too good to miss.

You can get it from Cnet Downloads by clicking on this link.

You will, just as I have, grow to love… and hate this game more than any other.

LEGACY POST: Movie Review by Scott

Signs

Unfortunately this is not going to be one of the funny –put down the movie– reviews (dang it!). This is another movie by M. Night Shyamalan, the guy who did “The Sixth Sense” and “Unbreakable.” Those are great movies with GREAT endings that leave you nearly speechless by the end. If you haven’t seen both of those, then go and see them. This of course set the precedent very high for “Signs,” but I’m happy to report that this movie is one of the best movies that I have ever seen. The movie, starring Mel Gibson, begins with the discovery of, you guessed it, a crop circle in the middle of his corn field. The eeriness is established right off the bat and climaxes in a more shocking way than I could have imagined. Shyamalan’s method of suspense storytelling is like nothing that I have ever seen or experienced. The amazing amount of symbolism in the movie puts one in awe of this man’s talent. One of the surprising things about this film is the fact that there is a good amount of humor. You laugh at times, getting some relief from the absolutely chilling moments. You must be warned, this movie can have a strong after effect. It’s one of those movies that really effects you psychologically and will make you think for a while. This is an amazing movie, a work of art.

LEGACY POST: Movie Review by “The Lotfi”

Tombraider

I rewatched Tombraider a second time so as not to be biased in my appraisal of the movie and a second viewing did in fact give me something I lacked the first time – nausea. This movie was terrible. No, it was horribly terrible. At no point did the movie make sense, not one time. From the very beginning the movie was utterly ridiculous, showing Lara Croft somehow overpowering a 5 ton robot and forcing its chainsaw into the robots own legs. Furthermore, we find that her average evening is spent flying around her giant dining room on bungee cords, fighting off motorcycle-riding ninjas. Lets not forget the amazing plot, which consists of an ancient tool that can unlock the secrets of time, only if you manage to solve the inane riddles created by the Aztecs. This movie was Indiana Jones gone horribly wrong, with irrational plot and ridiculously unthoughtout action scenes.

LEGACY POST: Visor Edge

Check it out fools, I got myself a new palm pilot. I’ve had a Handspring Visor Deluxe for a LONG time now and I decided that I want to go with something thinner and lighter. You know… thinner and lighter. Anyway, I decided to go with a Handspring Visor Edge, mainly because I found one pretty cheap and I like Visors. And it is so sleek and fast! Pocket PCs are becoming more and more attractive, but none of them are as small as what I’m looking for. Besides, I love the simplicity of Palms for what I use it for. I considered getting a Palm Vx, but they are just too old and slow now. Plus the screens are not nearly as nice as the Edge’s. Here are some pictures for any PDA lovers to drool over:

Visor Edge 3

P.S. If anyone wants to buy a Visor Deluxe then let me know.
