LEGACY POST: Back

Back from a vacation that was too short. Skipped the Paloma Valley High School graduation (happy to hear the Burkholder’s speech was long and boring). Back at UCI learning German at a way too fast pace. Something funny from The Onion again:

LEGACY POST: New Movie

I made a new movie! It’s a SWS Boarding Production that is really cool, take a look at it if you have an adequate connection. It’s almost 5 megs so if you are on a slow connection it may take a few minutes to download, but trust me, it is worth your time.

To view the movie, right click here and choose “save target as” to download it, then you can view it on your computer.

A Break

I’m almost done with my first year of college, only one more EASY final on Friday. I get a week off and then it’s back to school for the summer. I hope everyone has a good summer.

LEGACY POST: Scott’s Take

BMW Rocks

Yesterday BMW announced that it was going to be making two new films to come out in the fall. If your not aware, BMWFilms.com came out last year with a bunch of short movies that were made by BMW, about BMWs. They are, in my opinion, some VERY cool films. “The Hire Series made international waves last year, when it featured films directed by John Frankenheimer (“Ronin,” “Grand Prix,” “The Manchurian Candidate”), Ang Lee (Oscar and Golden Globe winner “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” “Sense and Sensibility,” “Eat Drink Man Woman”), Wong Kar-Wai (“In the Mood for Love,” “Happy Together,” “Chung King Express”), Guy Ritchie (“Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels,” “Snatch”) and Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (“Amores Perros”). The films were brilliantly cast with strong supporting characters played by: Mickey Rourke (“The Pledge”), Tomas Milian (“Traffic”), Adriana Lima (Guess model) and Madonna (actress/recording artist).” These are definitely worth the watch if you’ve got a fast internet connection.

turnitin.com

Turnitin.com scares me. Because of turnitin.com, the first thing that I think when I sit down to write a paper is, “Dang it, now I have to write it myself!” Well, that not necessarily a bad thing, but the stories that I’ve been seeing about students getting kicked out of the their universities because they were plagiarizing, and turnitin.com caught it, have been a little scary. I was led to believe that turnitin.com was all knowing, but apparently it’s pretty dumb. For my report on Oppenheimer, it didn’t pick up on any of my quotes from scholarly journals or books. The couple of things that it did get were really stupid. So, know I know, I have nothing to fear from turnitin.com, at least until they get a larger database. This is what my report from turnitin looked like. This is what one their samples looked like.

LEGACY POST: World Cup

As everyone knows, soccer is awesome. As far as I know, it is the greatest game ever. Now, I don’t know all that much about the World Cup per se, but my prediction for the 2002 WC is that the United States is going all the way! That’s Scott’s “Lock of the Week.”Just in case you didn’t think that was funny, check this out.

LEGACY POST: Scott’s Take

I love to see Apple take steps to try and stay in the game. They are really doing a lot better now than they were a few years ago. They are opening up stores all over and are focusing on drawing PC users to the MacOS. I’m looking forward to one in Pasadena, Ca., I’m going to go and check it out. They have some really cool stuff, but I still feel that the premium they charge for having an “Apple” is far too high. If they could be more competitive then they would definitely draw a larger consumer base. Even though I think Steve Jobs is a freak, his company has come a long way with the adoption of a Unix based OS (OSX), and now MPEG-4 for QuickTime 6. Don’t get me wrong though, I still wouldn’t be caught dead with a Mac. I’m trying out a new comment system. If you’d like to comment on what I have to say each day, then click the link below and do it. The link also allows you to read all the comments that have been left.

LEGACY POST: Scott’s Take

There was horrible thing that happened yesterday. A woman bit into an “oh so delicious” Krispy Kreme donut only to be greeted with shards of glass that cut up her mouth. NOT COOL. Whoever is trying to give Krispy Kreme a bad name is going to have to face my wrath, and the wrath of all the others who love KK donuts, if they get caught. It isn’t going to be pretty. Pat thinks that it was the Dunkin Donuts people. I suspect Winchell’s. They both realize their inferiority. If neither comes forward to confess to this atrocity I guess we’ll just have to get rid of both of them.

This is just dumb. How can this stuff be music? Its so… nothing. It makes me wonder why we even call it music. I don’t even see how it can be considered enjoyable… its just noise, or the lack thereof. All I know is that I think its dumb. (So there!)

LEGACY POST: Scott’s Latest Work

It’s my latest research paper: “J. Robert Oppenheimer: The Injustice Done”. Check it out if you’d like, it’s actually quite interesting. (Better Cover Sheet)

Just the facts

Check it out. There’s going to be a solar eclipse of 75% from southern California on June 10th, peaking at about 6:23pm. Pretty cool I guess. This information courtesy of some astronomy freak from my school.

LEGACY POST: Scott’s Take

Okay, MIT guys are freakin’ awesome. If you are a software or hardware manufacturer you have to understand, no matter how smart your programmers or engineers are, there are guys (most likely at MIT) that are smarter. This applies to everyone. A prime example: Sony’s cool new unbeatable CD copyright protection, beat it with a marker. Another example: the proprietary Xbox, hacked by a guy at MIT, it can now be used with third party software; total cost $50. Soon to be one of those guys that hacks into all your unbeatable hardware and software: the “cool guy” and his crew!

You can buy anything, ANYTHING, on eBay (Mr. Peake knows this well). You can even buy classified airplane parts! This is so funny, how can some airplane parts that are coded “D,” meaning they must be totally destroyed and cannot be owned by the public under any condition, end up being sold on eBay? It never ceases to amaze.

Just a note to Mr. Peake: If you read this you have to understand that it’s all in good fun. I just like making fun of you because you dress so weird and are so funny all the time. Its just fun to laugh at a guy who contributes so much to the education of the youth of our nation. No, seriously though… you taught me nothing.
